![]() From 1942 large numbers of American light and medium tanks were delivered to Australia, along with British Matilda IIs. The outbreak of the Second World War in 1939 led to a significant expansion of Australia's armoured force. The first Australian tanks were a small number of British medium and light tanks which were operated mainly for training purposes during the 1920s and 1930s. The Australian Army's tanks have seen combat during the Second World War and the Vietnam War, where they proved successful despite some of the designs employed being considered obsolete. Throughout this period the Army has primarily been a light infantry force, with its tanks mainly being used in the direct support role. Q: Why use the 85mm instead of the 88mm to replace the 84mm?Ī: Given the era these were largely used, and the conflicts they fought, I thought it best to avoid using soviet weapons & ammo. The Australian Army has used tanks from after the First World War, through the interwar period, the Second World War, the Cold War and to the present day. Meaning it still mostly has its original armour, though it is possible to "increase its armour" with a HandleDamage event handler, i felt it was a good place to stop. The Strv 102 that this comp is based on is the result of the Swedish applying to their Strv 81s exactly the same upgrade package that turned British Mk.5s into Mk.5/2s. Q: Why is it spawning all broken up/ floating?Ī: You need to click off Terrain Level before spawning any comp, last pic above shows were to find it.Ī: From the Mk 6 and onward each variant would be focused on small upgrades to increase performance but also would start to increase its armour. last pic in the slideshow above will show were that is. You'll find this composition in the editor, once there you need to press the groups key or F2 then click on the composition icon. ![]() ![]() Questions & Answers Q: Why isn't this "mod" showing in the launcher/ how to spawn it?Ī: This isn't a "mod", its just a composition, and wont show in your launcher. call BIS_fnc_attachToRelative (Just replace Name-of-tank with the name of the tank) That said, each variant is named so if you wish to attach something to the tank yourself just add this script the the init box of the object you wish to attach. ![]() And unlike with other comps such as my Super Sherman, each centurion version (besides the Mk 4) replaced the last and likely wouldn't be found working together so didn't need to be visually distinct from one another. Most of the information I have obtained was from Wikipedia so expect mistakes, that said should you want to change anything all the scripts can be located in the tanks init box's.Īlthough every version starting from the Mk 5 should have 7.62mm MG's for the commander's cupola mounts, I haven't attached anything to the tanks to make it easy to copy and paste, as they are likely to be used in mass. Originally designed as a heavy cruiser tank it doesn't offer much more in the way of armour then the M4 Sherman but allowed for substantially greater firepower. Should go without saying but this comp is ideal for Korean war, early cold war, and ww2 1946 " what if " scenarios. Mod Description Adds the first seven variants of the Centurion Gen 1 MBT. ![]()
